Mahleb, Mahlebi prunus mahaleb

Mahleb is the dried kernel of a small cherry stone. It is an ancient spice with origins in the Middle east and Turkey. It comes in seed form and can be ground if desired.

Flavour:

Hints of almond and cherry and slightly bitter

How to Use:

Breads, biscuits and pastries. It makes a unique addition to a pastry mixture for a fruit tart.
